Lot 723 Stevens No. 45 .32 Long RF #9929
American made Stevens Ideal 'Range Model,' a vintage single-shot falling-block rifle chambered in .32 Long R.F., manufactured in Chicopee Falls, MA. circa 1896-1916. It features an approximately 28" blued octagon barrel, beach front sight, adjustable sporter rear sight in dovetail, adjustable vernier tang sight, smooth curved trigger, color-case hardened frame, color-case curved lever, checkered hammer spur, smooth walnut schnabel forend, and smooth straight grip shoulder stock with Swiss style buttplate. Barrel, hammer, breech block, and trigger are all blued. The blued finish retained is approximately 95% showing some edge wear, a small amount of thinning on the barrel, and some light surface rust toward the front of the barrel. The barrel metal has a knick or chip on the right side below the rear sight. The receiver case-coloring is good with a small line of rust spots and minor pitting along the right side of the receiver. The action is smooth and crisp with tight lock-up. The bore is bright with strong rifling, but needs to be cleaned. The furniture wood is very good showing minor dings and scratches.
