Lot 671 Browning Auto-5 12 Ga #8M15372
Designed by John Moses Browning, the classic Auto-5 is a standard weight semi-auto shotgun chambered for 2 3/4" 12 Gauge shells. Belgium made A5 circa 1958 with the St. Louis barrel address on top of the barrel, Belgian proof marks on the left side, and 'Made in Belgium" on the right side. Shotgun features a blued finish, a 27-1/2" barrel, bore measures 'IC' with a drop-in gauge, steel bead front sight, magazine cut-off, metal trigger guard, smooth slightly curved trigger, and checkered cross-bolt manual safety behind the trigger. It has two piece hardwood stocks with checkering at the wrist, round knob pistol grip, ventilated Pachmayr recoil pad with black & white spacers, 14-1/2" length-of-pull, 1-5/8" drop at comb, 2-1/4" drop at heel, and finger grooves above the checkering on the forearm provide a "Prince of Wales" style grip. Shotgun displays a limited coverage of floral scroll and edge engravings on the receiver, trigger guard, and tangs. The original blued metal finish is about 94% with minor scratches, edge wear, and light thinning around the bottom of the receiver. The metal has a few spots of light scattered rust, and no observed metal deformation. Bore is bright and shiny, and the wood furniture is in good condition with minor scratches and dings, and a 1" hairline crack on the bottom of the forend. The action is smooth and crisp.
