Lot 634a Chuo Kogyo Type 94 8mm Nambu #40810
Japanese made semi-automatic pistol chambered for 8x22mm Nambu, and manufactured circa October, 1943. A military issue pistol produced from 1935 until 1945, this Nambu was intended for pilots and tank crews. The date code '18.10' refers to the 18th year, and 10th month of Hirohito's reign. Under the serial number, there are two symbols that represent the Nagoya Arsenal and the Nambu factory, respectively. This is the third variation of the Type 94. Essentially all Type 94s were made by the private firm Chuo Kogyo (or its predecessor, the Nambu Gun Mfg. Company) at their Kokubunji factory under Nagoya Arsenal supervision. This type 94 features a blued finish, a 3-3/4" barrel, fixed blade front sight, fixed square notched rear sight, smooth straw-colored curved trigger, smooth push-button magazine release, serrated frame mounted safety lever, lanyard ring at the rear of the frame, smooth grip straps, magazine disconnect, and checkered black composite grip panels. The pistol retains 96% of its original dull military finish with edge wear, handling blemishes, and some thinning. Most of the straw color remains on the safety and trigger. Metal display no deformation, but there was rust observed inside of the slide. The grips are very good to excellent with handling blemishes, and the markings are sharp an clear. The bore is dirty, but it appears to be bright with strong rifling. The action is smooth and crisp. Pistol includes one magazine total, and it is numbered #708.
