Lot 622 Nikko / Kanematsu-Gosho 5000-I 20 Ga #K246656

The Nikko 5000-I is a Japanese-made (by Olin-Kodensha) over and under box-lock shotgun produced from 1974–1982, chambered for 3" 20 Gauge shells. Imported by Kanematsu Gosho of Arlington Heights, IL. Featuring a blued finish, 26" vent ribbed barrels, fixed chokes marked for & measure Mod / Imp Cyl, flat brass bead front sight, serrated sliding tang safety and barrel selector, ejectors, and smooth curved selective in-the-white trigger. The high gloss walnut furniture consists of a semi-pistol grip shoulder stock, a checkered forend with a Deeley latch release, 14" length-of-pull, 1-1/2" drop at comb, 2-3/8" drop at heel, and a checkered black plastic factory buttplate. The receiver and smaller components display limited coverage of floral scrolls and edge patterns, with embossed gold-colored eagle heads on both sides of the receiver. Original blued finish remaining is approximately 99% with little remarkable to speak of. Furniture wood is very good to excellent with superficial scratches, and a few small scattered dents and dings from storage. The bores are bright and shiny, and the action is smooth and crisp with the top lever standing slightly right of center. Metal displays no rust, or deformation. Accurate dating of this shotgun was not possible, so C&R is not available.
Condition is NRA Near Excellent.
