Lot 613 Smith & Wesson 629-6 'Backpacker' .44 Mag #CWF1316
American made large frame stainless steel double-action revolver chambered in .44 Magnum. 629-6 was introduced circa 2001, and manufactured in Springfield, MA. The 'Backpacker' features a brushed stainless finish, 3" ported barrel, unfluted six-shot cylinder, shrouded ejector rod, full underlug, raised pinned red fiber optic front sight, micrometer adjustable 'V' notched rear sight, case-colored smooth curved trigger, case-colored hammer, checkered hammer spur, frame mounted firing pin, transfer bar safety, three screw round butt N target frame, smooth grip straps, internal key lock system, and textured black rubber Hogue 'monogrip' with finger grooves. The 'backpacker' theme is displayed with a bear head on the right side of the frame, and bear footprints on the cylinder. The brushed stainless finish retained is approximately 98% with only superficial blemishes. Metal shows no rust, or deformation, but there are some dark spots from use above the barrel ports. Action is smooth and crisp with a tight lock-up, and the bore is bright with strong rifling. Hogue grips are excellent. Comes with original factory blue hard case, paperwork, test fired cartridges, and two keys for the internal locking system.
