Lot 497 Carl Gustafs M96 6.5x55mm #391459

Swedish made military bolt-action chambered in 6.5x55mm Swedish manufactured by Carl Gustafs circa 1916 (as marked on the receiver ring). The receiver ring is marked 'Carl Gustafs Stads Gevarsfaktori' which translate to, "Rifle Factory of Carl Gustaf's Town." This long rifle features a blued finish, an approximately 29" threaded barrel, dovetailed blade front sight, adjustable flip-up ladder rear sight graduated to 600 meters, bayonet lug, cleaning rod, sling swivel on barrel band, sling swivel on the bottom of the buttstock, smooth curved trigger, 5 round internal box magazine, and straight bolt handle. The hardwood furniture consists of a smooth fingergrooved forend, handguard, full-length straight grip shoulder stock with brass stock disc, and smooth metal buttplate. The brass disc shows a marked '0' for bore diameter, and a '0' for the 'Overslag' (elevation aiming error), and '1' for the bore condition. Matching serial numbers are found on the receiver, bolt (in four places), rear sight (in three places), floor plate, and buttplate. Rifle retains approximately 88% of its blued finish with minor scratches, losses on the barrel band, and edge wear. Metal condition shows rust on the buttplate, and on the rear sight leaf. The action is mechanically sound. The bore is bright with strong rifling. Wood furniture is very good with light scratches and dings. The stock is also marked with crowns, and a crown over "S" behind the trigger.
