Lot 476 Winchester Model 52B .22 LR #58780B
Vintage magazine fed bolt action target rifle chambered in .22 Long Rifle, manufactured circa 1940 in New Haven, CT. Regarded by many as one of the finest small-caliber rifles ever built. It features a blued finish, 28" barrel with installed scope blocks, iron sights removed for optics (installed slot blank in front), curved serrated trigger, manual safety on the right side of the receiver has been removed, polished bolt body, accepts detachable 5 round factory magazine (included magazine has been converted to single shot), front sling swivel, and rear sling swivel removed. The furniture is a customized walnut semi-pistol grip shoulder stock with inlayed accessory rail in the beavertail forend, and buttplate removed. Rifle retains approximately 92% of it's original blued finish showing only superficial scratches on the barrel and receiver with most of the finish wear on the trigger guard. The bore appears bright with strong riflling. Action is smooth, and the markings are clear. The wood stock is marginal because it is missing parts, and it was in the middle of customization. The magazine release button is missing, but an object that fits into the hole can release the magazine. It includes an aluminum hand stop on the accessory rail.
