Lot 433 L.C. Smith Field Grade 12 GA. #FW189619

'Field Grade' vintage side-by side double barrel sidelock shotgun chambered for 2 3/4" 12 Gauge shells, and manufactured between 1912 and 1950. This shotgun was made after Hunter Arms Company acquired L.C. Smith. Featuring blued approximately 30" Armor steel barrels, raised solid rib, extractor, brass bead front sight, double smooth curved triggers, left bore measures 'F' and the right measures 'IM' (drop-in gauge), 14" length-of-pull to front trigger, and serrated sliding tang safety. The furniture consists of a checkered semi-pistol grip shoulder stock, checkered walnut splinter forend with a triangular ivory insert at the front, domed ivory grip cap, and black serrated plastic buttplate. Locks are marked "L.C. Smith," right barrel is marked "L.C. Smith Field Grade," and the left barrel is marked with the Hunter Arms address line. Matching serial numbers on the receiver, barrels, and forend metal. Retained original bluing is approximately 85% with scattered wear, scratches and thinning on the barrels.. The receiver, locks, and lever are all color-case hardened and still exhibit brilliant colors with carry wear on the bottom of the receiver. Action is smooth and crisp. The bores are bright with a very small dent in the middle of the left barrel on the bottom. Markings are sharp and clear. Furniture wood condition is very good with scattered small dents and scratches, and some missing finish at the rear of the buttstock against the buttplate. The ivory inserts in the grip cap and forend appear to be added by a previous owner, and suggests that the stock was refinished.
Condition is NRA Good to Very Good.
