Lot 391 L.C. Smith Ideal Grade 12 GA. #FWS19055

'Ideal Grade' vintage side-by side double barrel sidelock shotgun chambered for 2 3/4" 12 Gauge shells, manufactured between 1912 and 1950. Featuring blued approximately 30" London steel barrels, raised solid rib, extractor, brass bead front sight, double triggers, left bore measures 'IC' and the right measures 'CYL' (drop-in gauge), 14" length-of-pull to front trigger, serrated sliding tang safety, checkered and engraved top lever. The furniture consists of a checkered semi-pistol grip shoulder stock, checkered walnut splinter forend, black grip cap, and brown ventilated Pachmayr rubber recoil pad. The receiver, trigger guard, and top lever have limited coverage of oak leaf engravings. Locks are marked "L.C. Smith," and the right barrel is marked "L.C. Smith Ideal Grade". Matching serial numbers on the receiver, barrels, and forend metal. Retained original blueing is approximately 70% with very light edge wear, general thinning along the barrels, and heavier losses on the trigger guard. The receiver, triggers, locks, and lever are all color-case hardened and still exhibit brilliant colors . Action is smooth and crisp, and the bores are bright. Markings are crisp, with exception of the nitro proof. Furniture wood condition is very good for its age with superficial scratches/dings, some finish loss and a 1/4" hairline crack extending from the left lock. The forend clasp does not properly engage leaving it loose on the shotgun.
