Lot 390 Inland M1 Carbine .30 Cal #873105

WW2 US military semiautomatic rifle manufactured circa 1944. Features parkerized finish, plum colored trigger group, type III low wood, oval cut walnut stock stamped "OI" in sling well, manufactured by S.E. Overton for Inland & 4 rivet handguard, underside also stamped "OI", protected blade front sight, Type III, Stamped "U" ( Underwood-Elliot Fisher Co.) Type II peep rear sight with sliding elevator stamped "PI" (Inland) 18" barrel, type III magazine release marked "M" (modified) and "WA" ( Walt Manufacturing Company and Commercial Controls, formerly National Postal Meter), rotating manual safety marked "N" (National Postal Meter), front sling swivel, oval sling slot in butt, accepts detachable magazine. Type III barrel band with bayonet lug marked "Q" (Quality Hardware) barrel band subcontractor for Inland bayonet lug marked "W" (Winchester) indicating post-war arsenal upgrade. Early to mid war flattop bolt. Bolt hold-back on charging handle. USGI green web sling marked "Boyt 44" attached with oiler in stock. Bore is very good/bright with some very light patina in the grooves. Retains about 85% finish, colors and textures consistent with US production or US military arsenals, shows loss on edges and where moving parts rub, friction wear on the bolt and handling wear on the upper barrel. Wood is very good/sound with minor dings. Markings include "INLAND MFG. DIV. GENERAL MOTORS 10-43" on barrel and feint crossed cannons ordnance cartouche on right buttstock. Inland marked receiver. Serial number places it in production by Inland August-September, 1943 making this carbine a date correct mid war WW2 carbine. No importer marks observed. No Magazine.
