Lot 364 Shiloh Rifle Mfg Co 1874 'Sharps' .45-70 #8842
'Shiloh-Sharps' American made breech loading falling-block rifle chambered in .45-70 Government, manufactured by Shiloh Rifle Mfg. Company out of Big Timber, MT. The "Old Reliable" rifle features a matte blued heavy 26" half octagonal and half round barrel, adjustable Lawrence style flip-up rear sight, blade front sight, checkered lower tang, double-set smooth curved triggers, and checkered hammer spur. Receiver, triggerguard/lever, block, and hammer are color-case hardened, with the barrel and some sight parts blued. The walnut furniture consists of a smooth semi-pistol grip buttstock, smooth schnabel forend, and a checkered black plastic buttplate. Bore appears bright with strong rifling, and the action is smooth and crisp. Furniture wood is excellent with only superficial blemishes. The original blued finish is about 98% with a very small loss at the muzzle. The color case finish is also very good with very light scratches on the left side of the receiver.
