Lot 334 Browning Challenger III .22 LR #655PY07324
American made semi-automatic single-action blowback rimfire pistol chambered for .22 Long Rifle, manufactured circa 1982 ('PY' date code) by Salt Lake City Mfg., UT. The Challenger III model was manufactured between 1982 and 1985. Pistol features a matte and polished black finish, a 5-1/2" slab side heavy barrel with a recessed crown, raised serrated micrometer adjustable notched rear sight, serrated raised fixed blade front sight, serrated frame mounted manual safety, serrated heel magazine release, serrated slide stop, gold-colored serrated curved trigger, smooth grip straps, and two-piece smooth gloss wood grips with Browning medallions. The frame is aluminum with a black painted finish, and the remainder of the components are blued with polished flats and matte contours. The original blued finish retained is approximately 98% with superficial scratches, very light edge wear, and the slide is turning plum. The paint finish on the frame is very good with a couple of small scratches, and accidental chamfering in the barrel screw hole from using the wrong screw driver. Metal displays no rust or deformation. The wood grips are excellent, and the action is smooth and crisp. Bore is bright with strong rifling.
