U.S. Military style En Bloc clip-fed semi-automatic service rifle chambered in .30-06 Springfield. Manufactured by Beretta circa 1955 (as marked on barrel) as a contract M1 Garand for the Danish military. A year after WWII ended the Danish purchased 30-40 thousand M1 Garands from the U.S. military, and when they started to wear out they began to purchase rifles and parts from Beretta and Breda. It features a parkerized finish, a 24" barrel, shrouded blade front sight, adjustable rear aperture sight, bayonet lug, stacking swivel, smooth curved trigger, stamped trigger guard, manual safety, "P.B." marked bolt, most small parts serialized with drawing numbers, smooth walnut handguards and semi-pistol grip shoulder stock with trapdoor metal buttplate. Rifle retains approximately 90% of its finish showing some thinning, edge wear, and some patina on the hand guard ferrule. The metal at the end of the operating rod shows pitting. Action is smooth and crisp, and the bore appears bright with strong rifling. The wood furniture is very good with normal handling dents and scratches. This rifle includes a green nylon sling.
