Lot 240 Mauser 98K '1934 Banner' 8mm #87279

German made 'Banner' model, a bolt-action centerfire rifle chambered for 8mm Mauser, and manufactured circa 1934. Officially designed for export and German security guards, and it has no observed importer markings. These pre-war Mausers were often used by the S/A, and SS. Rifle features a blued refinish, a 23 1/2" barrel, early 'H' style front barrel band, checkered ramped inverted 'V' front sight, tangent rear sight graduated to 2000 meters, smooth curved trigger, turned down bolt handle, disassembly disc in stock, and no cleaning rod. The hardwood furniture consists of a semi-pistol grip shoulder stock with a sling slot cutout, smooth metal butt plate, and a smooth finger grooved forend. Receiver ring is stamped with the Mauser banner, the manufacture date, and Crown proofs. Left receiver rail stamped "MAUSER-WERKE A-G OBERNDORF aN." Markings are fairly sharp with some slight swamping from buffing during refinishing. Barrel, and bottom metal numbers match the receiver. Bolt mismatched, and electro pencil marked with '2496.' Rifle retains approximately 96% of its blued refinish showing light scattered scratches, thinning around the receiver, and edge wear. Metal displays no rust, or deformation. Bore is good with strong rifling, and shows light frosting. The action is smooth and crisp. The wood furniture very good with light scattered handling marks. Rifle includes checkered brown leather sling.
Condition is NRA Good.
