Lot 239 Falling Block Works Model J '1885' .444 Marlin #J3

American made single-shot falling block rifle chambered for .444 Marlin, and manufactured in Rochester, MI. This rifle is inspired by Winchester's 1885 High Wall falling block action, and built by Fowler Gun and Machine out of Anchorage, AK. Rifle features a matte blued finish, a 26" Douglas octogonal barrel, Falling Block Works investment cast 4140 steel receiver using the Model 'J' action, optics rail mounted on the barrel with 1" rings, serrated ramped blade front sight with a brass bead, adjustable XS rear peep sight, coil mainsprings, coil lever tension springs, coil firing pin and trigger springs, 'S' shaped under lever, exposed hammer with serrated spur, and smooth curved trigger. The walnut furnniture consists of a Monte Carlo style shoulder stock with checkering at the wrist, a checkered rounded forend, sling stud on barrel in front of the forend, sling stud on the bottom of the shoulder stock, and checkered metal butt plate. The original matte blued finish retained is approximately 99% with superficial blemishes, and a couple of small losses on the optics rail. Metal displays no rust or deformation. Bore is bright with strong rifling, and the action is smooth and crisp with a good lock-up. The walnut stock is excellent with minor scratches, slight crushing or flaking where the shoulderstock meets the receiver, and a small chip on the bottom of the pistol grip.
