^Lot 226 Sharps 1859 Derringer .22 cal. SN: 56619

Model 1A "Pepperbox". Civil War era. Manufactured circa 1859 to 1874. Features 2 1/2" barrel assembly that slides forward to load/unload, single action spur trigger, brass bead front sight, groove rear sight, rotating firing pin. Gutta-Percha grips with floral motifs. Bores have rifling present with patches of pitting. Barrel assembly is mostly a dull blue turning a gray patina. Brass frame is about half bare gray patina. The grips are excellent, action is crisp/tight, rotating striker rotates properly. Frame marked on left side "C. SHARPS / PATENT 1859", and "C. Sharps & Co, Philada. P.A." on right. Serial number matched on heel and underside of barrels.
