Lot 173 Pair of Original Flintlock Dueling Pistols. 52-54c

Circa about 1810-1830 with signed locks and gold inlaid makers cartouche on the bbl along with thick gold band at the breach. 15 1/2" overall with 10 1/2 medium weight octagon bbls of approximately 52-54 cal smooth bore. Nicely checkered walnut 1/2 stocks, engraved iron mounts. The bbl's show 50-60% original brown with false damascus stripping. The pair retain all correct parts and are original Flintlock configuration. The locks work well and actions are crisp. The pair remain in good to very good condition with sound stocks and patina on the metal. The original case shows brass mounts iwth carry ring and quality hardware. Stamp R. L. P. in block letters at top right edge. The exterior is good with normal age and imperfections of 200 yrs. The interior is green felt or baize in English partition style. A flask, mold, visor rod with worm included. The interior is good with loss and wear at resting points. A good pair of Flintlock dueling pistols by a scarce Irish maker that we would rate above average in condition. Very desirable.
