Lot 73 Browning Superposed 'Lightning Pigeon Grade' 20 GA
Belgium made Over/Under box-lock shotgun chambered for 3" 20 Gauge shells manufactured circa 1959. Imported by Browning Arms Company out of St. Louis, MO. Featuring blued finished 28" vent ribbed barrels, barrels marked for Imp Mod / Mod, ejectors, Bradley style front sight with orange insert, white mid-bead, in-the-white single smooth curved inertia trigger, tang mounted serrated sliding barrel selector and safety, and a checkered top lever. The receiver, top lever, and trigger guard display limited coverage of water fowl, floral and scroll engravings with edge designs. The receiver and its parts have a polished French Grey finish with the barrels being blued. Figured high gloss walnut furniture consists of a round knob gripped shoulder stock with checkering at the wrist & inlayed gold oval escutcheon engraved "TGP', sliding checkered forend with sliding deeley latch release, 14" length-of-pull, 1-9/16" drop at comb, 2-3/16" drop at heel, and a black Decelerator rubber recoil pad with black spacer. The original blued finish retained is approximately 85% with light scattered scratches, edge wear at the muzzle, and some thinning along the barrels. The coin finished metal finish is excellent with little remarkable to speak of. Metal displays no rust or deformation. The refinished walnut stocks looks good with semi-worn checkering, light handling marks, some finish losses and scattered minor scratches/dings. Bores are bright and shiny, and the action opens easily with very good lock-up & the top lever standing in the center. This shotgun includes original luggage style brown faux leather factory hard-case.
