Lot 22 Smith & Wesson Model 27-2 'Factory Engraved' .357

'The Oldest Magnum Revolver,' an American made Smith & Wesson Model 27-2. A high gloss blued and engraved, double action six-shot revolver chambered in .357 Magnum. Manufactured circa 1981 in Springfield, MA. The revolver features a pinned 8 3/8" barrel with a checkered rib, pinned patridge front sight, notched micrometer adjustable rear sight, counterbored six-shot fluted cylinder, shrouded ejector rod, 1/3 length underlug, wide color-case serrated curved target trigger, firing pin on hammer nose, color-case target hammer, checkered hammer spur, checkered cylinder release, ten-groove serrated grip straps, three screw square butt 'N' frame, and smooth Goncalo Alves two-piece target grips with gold colored S&W medallions. Elegant full coverage of 'Class A' factory engravings with floral scrolls. The revolver's high gloss blue finish remaining is approximately 99% with little remarkable to speak of, but a light drag mark on the cylinder. Metal shows no rust or deformation. The bore is bright with strong rifling, and the action is smooth and crisp. Wood grip condition is very good with scattered superficial blemishes. Pistol includes wood display box, two Smith & Wesson authentication letters, and a key for the box.
