Lot 3499 3 19TH CENTURY BRITISH OFFICER'S SWORDS.
1) British M1855 Royal Artillery sword measuring 38 3/4" overall with an etched blade that shows foliate motifs, flaming bomb, "9th" (with monogram), and a field cannon. The blade's ricasso is marked "HOBSON & SON ST. MARTINS LANE LONDON". Iron 2 branch hilt with a wire wrapped shark skin grip and an iron scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a light gray patina with some very minor spotting. Hilt shows a dark gray patina. Grip is undamaged. Scabbard has a light gray patina with 1 notable dent. 2) British M1855 Royal Artillery sword measuring 39 3/4" overall with an etched blade that shows foliate motifs, British royal crest, "ROYAL ARTILLERY", and GRv. The blade's ricasso is marked "GUTHRIE & VALENTINE CORK ST. LONDON. W.". Iron 2 branch hilt with a wire wrapped shark skin grip and an russet leather scabbard and carrying straps. CONDITION: blade has a light gray patina with some oxidized spotting. Hilt shows a dark gray patina. Grip is minor losses at the pommel. Scabbard is a bit scuffed and the tip is partially detached. 3) British M1845 Royal Scots Grenadiers sword measuring 39" overall with an etched blade that shows foliate motifs, a crowned flaming bomb, and numerous battle honors. The blade's ricasso is marked "CARTER & CO. PALL MALL LONDON". Iron semi-basket hilt showing a pierced guard featuring a flaming bomb. Wire wrapped shark skin grip and an iron scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a dark somewhat stained patina with a mottled appearance. Hilt shows a dark gray patina. Grip has very minor losses. Scabbard has an oxidized ant pitted finish.
