Lot 3490 17TH CENTURY EUROPEAN BROADSWORD
An example of a early 17th century broadsword similar to a dussage or a tessek measuring 39" overall with a plain 33 1/4" double edged straight blade featuring a central 16" fuller flanked by smaller 15" fullers. The hilt is of dussage/tessek style with a large pyramidal pommel. Wire wrapped grip with Turk's head knots at the top and bottom. CONDITION: blade shows light wear with a few edge nicks and may be a post production replacement. Hilt has a gray cleaned patina with minor pitting. Grip is intact with light wear and may be a replacement. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Nicholas Apergis. (02-24670/BF). NON-GUN. $1,000-2,000.
