Cal. 69. NSN. Bbl is 8" rnd with smooth bore. Left side of bbl has remnants of remaining Birmingham proofs. Ketland marked reconversion lock. Lock, top tang and breech end of bbl have highlights of scroll engraving. Pin fastened walnut stock. Brass fittings include trigger guard, buttcap and sideplate with flowing scroll engraving. Hardwood ramrod held by a single brass faceted pipe. Ketland pistols and rifles were imported during the Fur Trade period and often associated with Native American use. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: several pages of information reprinted "American Heritage Junior Library". CONDITION: metal has faded to gray with worn markings showing scattered pitting. Wood shows heavy wear and marks with a crack at the forearm tip. Wrist and lock area show chips and repairs. Functioning lock. Dark pitted bore. (01-27925/DS). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
