Lot 3413 FORSYTH & CO. OF LONDON PERCUSSION SXS

SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 Ga. S# 4059. The Thomas Parkin made 29" bbls. w/ brass bead; chokes appear to measure Mod. Molded nipple wells have platinum vent plugs. Lefaucheux back action locks with moulded breast hammer stops. Scroll engraving with highlighting vignettes of pheasants. Engraving extends to dolphin's head hammers, top tang, peak of buttplate, one piece thimble & pineapple finial triggerguard, and triggerguard bow having vignette of fox. Top tang has engraved "W.P' in gold name plate. Wedge fastened walnut stock w/ checkering at straight wrist. Replacement brass tipped ramrod. CONDITION: This gun appears to have been re-freshened with re-browned barrels, new wood finish & checkering. Barrels show fair faded brown finish with cleaned pitting along forearm channel & large area of pitting left tube. Wood has good appearing finish with handling marks, repaired crack through left side wedge escutcheon (half of escutcheon is missing)& epoxy repair right side in front of lock. Dark bores show oxidation. Locks appear mechanically fine. (01-28486/MD). ANTIQUE. $600-1,000.
