Lot 3283 COLT THIRD MODEL THUER SINGLE SHOT DERRINGER

PISTOL. Cal. 41 RF. S# 20382 (beneath left grip panel). Bbl. 2 1/2". Third Model Thuer single shot derringer pistol mfg. by Colt. Top of the bbl. is marked "-COLT-". Left side of the frame is marked "41 CAL". Brass frame exhibits a nickel plated finish. Steel bbl., trigger, and hammer are blued. Frame is mounted with 2-piece plain wood birds head grips. Brass half-moon blade front sight. Grips match the frame via the full S#, which is faintly handwritten in pencil on the interior of the panels. CONDITION: frame retains fair to good amounts of its original nickel plated finish, showing wear and thinning that shows through to a mellow patina. Blued parts retain large amounts of their original finish, showing mild wear and thinning, some scattered scratches, and scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Very bright bore, exhibiting a few spots of dark surface oxidation towards the muzzle, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show scattered superficial marks and minor impressions, but otherwise remain sound. PROVENANCE: The Esteemed Norm Greenberg Collection. (25-4145/MLW). CURIO. $500-800.
