Lot 3243 BRITISH RIFLE VOLUNTEERS SWORD & 2 US SWORDS.
1) British M1845 Volunteer Rifles Officer's sword for the famous Robinhood Rifles measuring 39 1/4" overall with an etched blade and no maker's markings. The blade is etched with a plethora of foliate motifs along with 2 crowns, a rifleman's horn, and the words "ROBIN HOOD RIFLES". Iron semi-basket guard with a pierced crowned rifleman's horn in the center. Wire wrapped sharkskin grip. Iron scabbard. CONDITION: blade shows plenty of original factory polish. Hilt and scabbard have a dark oxidized patina. Grip is solid with normal wear. 2) US M1840 NCO sword measuring 39" overall with a plain blade marked "Made by AMES MFG Co. Chicopee, MASS." & "US JH 1860". Brass mounted leather scabbard. CONDITION: blade retains some original factory finish. Hilt shows light wear. Scabbard is missing the bottom5 ". 3) US M1840 NCO sword measuring 38" overall with a plain blade marked "C. ROBY W. CHELMSFORD, MS.". & "U.S. 1863 F.S.S.". No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a mottled gray patina. Hilt shows light wear with a nice patina. (02-25309/BF). NON-GUN. $600-900.
