Cal. 12ga. NSN. Many shotguns were used in Civil War, and few have provenance. Accompanying is copy of note stating James Couch of 62nd Pennsylvania took this home while on furlough Christmas 1863 and he captured gun on battlefield near Culpepper, VA. Typical side by side import shotgun, 28" barrels. CONDITION: good, well worn, brass screwed strip repair to stock below right lock, mechanics functional, right hammer is bit loose, clear dark smooth bores. (01-28575/JS). ANTIQUE. $600-800.
