ROTARY UNDERLEVER SXS SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 1/2". S# 16443. While this gun was made approx. 1868, the water table has Birmingham 1973 Nitro proofs for 2 1/2" chambers. The 29 1/8" Damascus barrels have brass front bead; chokes appear to be cyl. however right tube has several impressions affecting choke. Rotary underlever action has generous coverage of scroll engraving with vignettes of naive fowl; engraving extends to hammers, elegantly sculpted fences & triggerguard. Action has dbl. triggers & extractors. Restocked with checkered walnut using original wedge; horn forearm tip. LOP: 14.5" to horn buttplate. DAC: DAH: CONDITION: barrels show brown patina with spots of cleaned pitting & corrosion throughout. Action has gray patina appearance with triggerguard showing prior pitting. Wood has good finish with numerous light dings & scratches. Bores are shiny with a few spots of fouling. Barrels appear tight on face & hammers appear mechanically fine. Right tube muzzle shows a significant dent. (01-28491/MD). ANTIQUE. $500-900.
