TRANTER'S PATENT ROOK RIFLE. 380 Rook. S# 89 (Tranter Patent #35075). Oct. 26" bbl. w/ Birmingham black powder proofs. Tranter's patent action w/ external hammer & tilting extractor. Checkered walnut stock w/ steel buttplate. CONDITION: metal has oxidized appearance overall with cleaning around bbl. address & traces of blue. Wood has numerous dings & marks with light wear to checkering. Strong rifling with pitting & frosting. Mechanically fine. PROVENANCE: Estate of Groves Herrick. (01-28365/MD). ANTIQUE. $400-600.
