SPORTING RIFLE. Cal. appears to be 43 Spanish. S# 8309. Hans Larsen (1823-1907) is a renowned Norwegian gunsmith from Drammen, while having businesses in Oslo & Liege, Belgium. His designs include breechloading rifles & drillings, needlefire rifles, revolvers & Krag style rifles. Oct. 29.5" bbl.; water table as "EL" Liege proof. Blade front sight; rear sight groove removed during reblue. Interesting lever actuated sliding breech block action w/ sprays of acanthus scroll engraving. Birch appearing stock set. Full length wedge fastened forearm w/ brass tip; missing sling swivel. Straight grip buttstock w/ crescent buttplate. CONDITION: gunsmith attention needed; hammer unable to hold at full cock. Metal has reblued finish with prior pitting. Sanded & refinished wood has reddish tone with marks. Bore shows deep rifling with rounded lands & darkness in grooves.
