WEBLEY PATTERN ROOK RIFLE. Cal. 255 Jeffrey. S# 9885 (assembly # 83956). Rnd. 26"; has been relined & reproofed . Blade front sight & 3 leaf rear sight. Boxlock action w/ side lever & extractor. Replacement checkered walnut stock set w/ grooved butt & German silver toeline nameplate. CONDITION: good barrel blue showing large areas of fading finish mixing with gray patina showing scattered peppery oxidation & scratches. Right side of action has good case colors with balance fair fading colors mixing with brown patina, peppery oxidation & scratches. Lightly sanded & refinished wood shows scattered light dings. Shallow rifling shows pitting. PROVENANCE: Estate of Groves Herrick. (25-5717/MD). CURIO. $500-800.
