RIFLE. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 25150 (on bottom of receiver). Sporting rifle patterned after the Mauser Model B rifle built from a Military GEW 98 action (S# 5633). Bbl. 27" w/ matted rib having blade front sight & 2 leaf rear sight. Matching numbers throughout case hardened action w/ dbl. set triggers & control feed bolt assembly having turned down handle. Chamber ring has punch dot decoration with sprays of acanthus scroll engraving. Checkered walnut wedge fastened walnut stock w/ case hardened steel buttplate, grip cap, sling swivel. CONDITION: good fading barrel blue mixing with brown patina showing streaks of wear, marks & peppery oxidation. Good fading case colors with peeling varnish, patina & peppery oxidation. Good wood finish with numerous dings, marks that pierce the finish & sm. cracks behind action tang. Fair worn rifling. (25-5486/MD). CURIO. $500-800.
