"FLAT SIDE" SINGLE SHOT PISTOL. Cal. 22 LR. S# FRO S 1043. Bbl. 10" octagon stainless with fixed blued front sight and factory adjustable rear; marked "22 L.R. Match" having Rochester address plus recessed target crown. Special flat side 3rd. variation of easy open frame with selector / safety on top of hammer. Issued by T/C Custom Shop, AKA Fox Ridge Outfitters (FRO). Serial number prefix of "FRO" and "S" for stainless. Front of frame marked "TCA-C" over "ROCH-NH". Original Contenders started with serial number 1001, so one might assume this special model may have also started at 1001, making this #43 (Richard Petty fans?). Walnut stock set of sculptured forend and Herrett style finger grooved grip with TC marked black plastic grip cap. CONDITION: careful scrutiny will yield some very faint handling marks, but overall near excellent with unfired appearance. PROVENANCE: Estate of Groves Herrick. (25-5697/NW). MODERN. $500-750.
