Lot 2169 EXTREMELY RARE "U" MARKED RUGER REDHAWK REVOLVER.

Cal. 44 Mag. S# U500-15271. Bbl. 7 1/2" ribbed with optional user changeable brass bead front sight; frame mounted factory adjustable steel (alloy on most revolvers) rear sight with optional "V" notched blade having vertical white line Mfg. 1986 (1980-2021) as KRH-44 with Model Number 05001. Per noted Ruger author, Chad Hiddleson, only 17 other Redhawks known to have this "U" number prefix that is stamped directly above the "-" in the number; some of the others have the "U" before the normal 3 digit prefix. Of the other 17, 12 are this same model; the other 5 are varied. The usual reason for "U" is to indicate "USED" caused by factory representatives (or magazine authors) using the item for display at a prominent show or event and then the factory adds a "U" to sell it as used through normal commercial channels: "*" or what looks like a "chicken's foot" symbol is sometimes used, but "U" is most commonly used. Fitted with Pachmayr Gripper checkered rubber grips. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: unmarked original style box with paperwork, sealed "R4S" package of colored plastic front sights plus original red insert front sight and complete steel white outlined rear sight assembly. CONDITION: about near excellent overall with extremely faint cylinder turn line and a light scuff mark on left side of grips near center. Appears minimally used with near excellent bore. (25-4873/NW). MODERN. $700-1,000.
