Lot 2107 CUSTOM RUGER No. 3 FALLING BLOCK CARBINE WITH

MORRISON 25.222 BARREL. Cal. 25.222. S# 130-57468. Bbl. 20" sporter contoured barrel marked "MORRISON / BANGOR, MAINE" on left side near receiver and "25.222" on right side; no provision for sights (standard crown). Mfg. 1976 (1973-1986) as a Bicentennial model before being rebarreled by Maine's best know gunsmith at his original Bangor location (before moving to Bradford). Cartridge appears to be 25-222 Copperhead designed in 1960's by noted gun writer, John Wootters who first wrote of it in "Guns and Ammo" and later in "Handloader". Info lists 60 grain bullets at 3,000 FPS and 75's at 2,800. Standard stock set with black Celcon carbine buttplate; forend cut behind barrel band position plus glass bedded to tip of forend hanger. Weaver bases and rings holding Weaver Micro-Trac K4-1 duplex reticle scope. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: poor original box (water damaged). CONDITION: light handling marks on nicely refinished stock set; balance is near excellent to include bluing, bore and scope set. PROVENANCE: Estate of Groves Herrick. (25-5664/NW). MODERN. $650-900.
