RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 7343344. Bbl. 21 3/4". Model 742 "Woodsmaster" semi-automatic rifle mfg. by Remington in 1973. Left side of the bbl. is marked with Remington's mfg. and patent information, followed by the cal. designation and date code "OX" (July, 1973). Left side of the receiver is marked with the Remington trademark logo above the S#, followed by "Woodsmaster/ MODEL 742". Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the aluminum trigger housing, which exhibits a black enamel type finish. Fleur-de-lis impress checkered wood forearm and pistol grip stock with Remington checkered black synthetic buttplate. Lyman blade front sight (bead absent) with elevation adj. U-notch rear sight. Top of the receiver is drilled and tapped with 4 plug screws. Mag. is absent. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that are fading to gray patina, scattered superficial handling marks, as well as scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation overall. Very bright bore, exhibiting some scattered spots of light surface oxidation, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows scattered marks and small impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sound. (25-5306/MLW). CURIO. $300-500.
