Lot 1550 VERY EARLY PRODUCTION U.S. SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1903
RECEIVER WITH BOLT ASSEMBLY. S# 80667. Receiver manufactured in 1903 and was certainly a rod bayonet rifle as manufactured. Receiver ring is marked on top with the small letters "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD / ARMORY / MODEL 1903". Receiver is equipped with narrow smooth trigger assembly which would release the sear if the trigger is pushed forward. Cutoff assembly is later replacement. CONDITION: receiver has a worn period arsenal reworked finish, leaving scattered spots of gray throughout. Bolt has similar appearance. (25-3151/RW). MODERN. $100-200.
