Lot 21A California bighorn sheep auction permit for the 2026 license year
STATE OF WASHINGTON DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND WILDLIFE
Kyle Garrison - Ungulate Section Manager Washington Dept. of Fish and Wildlife
P: 360.584.3315
E: kyle.garrison@dfw.wa.gov
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is pleased to again have WSF host the California bighorn sheep auction permit for the 2026 license year.
Anyone is eligible to bid, regard-less if you’ve harvested a bighorn in Washington.
The successful bidder will be issued a license and tag and will be able to hunt in the following California bighorn sheep herds: Manson, Swakane, Quilomene, and the Cleman Mountain.
WDFW staff report good ram-to-ewe ratios in these populations so hunters can expect a high-quality hunting experience.
The auction permit hunter can hunt from September 1 to December 31, 2026; that’s 2 weeks earlier than the general bighorn permit season!
Much of the land is managed by WDFW, which generally prohibits commercial guiding.
However, the auction permit holder can expect approval to retain a guide during the 1st 2 weeks of the season (as well as after draw permit hunting closes).
