Description:
Riley Pitts of Big Game Backcountry Guides has generously donated an Alaskan Barren Ground Caribou Hunt….each hunter brings home an Alaskan Barren Ground Caribou. You and your guide will be strategically placed in an area that gives you the best chance for harvesting a mature Alaska Barren Ground Caribou. Your guide is a licensed professional and your partner on the hunt. He is a woodsman helping with all facets of the hunt including but not limited to glassing, knowledge of species hunted, knowledge of the area, judging trophies, strategies of stalking, shooting, butchering, and preparation of your trophy.

Hunters will fly into Deadhorse, Alaska (Prudhoe Bay Airport). The outfitter will pick you up and transport you from there. Chartered bush flights cost approximately $3,000 per person and are typically conducted in a Maule or Super Cub aircraft. The charter cost includes one flight into camp, one flight out of camp, transportation of trophies to an expediter and packaging meat to ship home. Expediter will be in contact with hunters on cost and when to expect shipments after hunt is concluded.

Please note that weather delays are common in this region. If fog or other weather conditions prevent travel between Prudhoe Bay and the outfitter’s lodge, you may need to stay overnight in Deadhorse at one of the local hotels. This is fairly common.

Once picked up, you will be taken to the outfitter’s lodge. Upon arrival, you’ll review your gear to ensure you have everything needed and go over all the refuge regulations and hunt rules. At the main lodge, you will be assigned a tent for sleeping. The lodge serves as a common area for meals and socializing.

One Arctic Grizzly Bear can be hunted with a license fee of $1,000 and a trophy fee of $15,000 if harvested. If both hunters wish to pursue a grizzly, it will likely require relocating camp, which would involve an additional in-field flight at extra cost.
