Lot 641 Pre-War Savage Model 99G Lever Action Takedown Rifle
Pre-War Savage Model 99G Lever Action Takedown Rifle, #332504, .300 Savage. cal., 24'' round barrel, blue finish, checkered pistol-grip walnut stock and Schnabel style forearm; buttstock with a serrated steel buttplate. Nickel silver front bead sight, rear ladder sight, and Lyman peep sight. Lever is case hardened, and cocking indicator is located on the upper tang. Buttplate, stock, forearm, and receiver with matching numbers. Mfg'd approx. 1930. Overall condition is fine, retaining approx. 85%-90% blue on barrel. Receiver has turned a gray patina. Lever case colors remain but are muted on the left side and mostly faded on the right and bottom. Wood with clean sharp checkering and a handful of minor pressure dents and scratches. There are a few small dark spots and the forearm may have had an added coat of varnish. Action is smooth. Bore is bright with well-defined rifling. Est.: $500-$800. (C&R/PPT)
