Lot 553 Lot of Five (5) British Bayonets and Scabbards
Lot of Five (5) British Bayonets and Scabbards: 1.) Early British No.4 Mk 1 Cruciform Blade Bayonet and Scabbard, 8'' four sided cruciform blade and socket, forged as one unit, blued finish. Made by Singer Manufacturing Co. and marked ''G(Crown)R/No 4 MK I/S.M.''.''U.S.2'' on the socket and the replaced release latch is marked with a Stevens/Savage ''(Block)S''. Condition is fine, showing light wear to the bluing, and small nicks to the edges of the blade. Latch operates smoothly. Steel scabbard is in good condition, with scratches and patina to the tube. This early design was later replaced by the Mark II with a round blade to simplify production. 2.) Pattern 1907 marked ''MOLE'' and ''7 18''. Condition is good, the blade shows nicks and has been sharpened and polished. Body of the Australian scabbard has been painted black and is in good condition. 3.) Pattern 1907 marked ''WILKINSON'' and ''9 15''. Condition is very good with a dark phosphate blade, with no nicks, and good grips. Australian scabbard is good. 4.) No.4 Mk III marked ''M158''. Condition is good with most of the blackened finish removed. Brown leather frog is very good. 5.) Canadian No.4 Mk II marked ''No 4 MK II/LB''. Condition is very good. Scabbard and frog are in good condition. Est.: $400-$600/lot.
