British Webley Schermuly Single Shot Line Throwing Gun, #8634, 2'' diameter bore, 18.6'' smoothbore rocket barrel for attaching rescue/utility line, brass frame with brass and steel barrel, hardwood grips on the pistol, grooved black plastic handle on barrel, no sights. Made by adding the steel barrel and handle to a surplus 1'' signal pistol. Original issue markings have been removed and pistol is marked ''SCHERMULY'S/PAT No 503324'' on left side of the frame. There are proof and view stamps on the frame and barrel. Condition overall is very good, brass flare pistol has been polished and shows light spots of toning. Steel barrel has also been polished and there are scattered spots of pitting and patina. Grips are very good with added varnish over old handling marks. Action operates smoothly. Bore rates good with two spots of pitting and patina toward the muzzle. Est.: $300-$500.
