Russian Capture Steyr bnz 41 Kar 98k Mauser Bolt Action Rifle, #1332, 8x57mm cal., 23.6'' barrel, blackened finish, laminated stock with handguard, cupped buttplate, inverted-''V'' front sight without hood, and adjustable tangent rear sight with ''V''-notch, graduated to 2000 meters. Includes a reproduction steel cleaning rod. Top of the receiver ring is marked ''bnz 41''. Left side of the barrel shank and receiver marked with partially defaced Nazi eagle firing proofs and ''Mod.98''. Receiver and barrel shank with Waffenamt marks. Right side of the buttstock is stamped ''(Eagle/swastika)H'' and (Nazi eagle)WaA 655 (twice). Matching Soviet applied numbers. Import marked on underside of the barrel. There is a Soviet capture ''X'' stamped on left side of the receiver ring. Condition overall is fine as Soviet arsenal assembled and refinished, retaining approx. 90%+ finish, which was applied over old patina on the receiver and barrel, with finish loss to both barrel bands. Wood is very good, with old handling marks, a putty repair and delamination crack to left side of the forend. Action operates smoothly. Bright bore rates very good with defined rifling.
