^Lot 533 Target Modified Swedish M1896 Mauser Bolt Action Rifle

Target Modified Swedish M1896 Mauser Bolt Action Rifle, #291975, 6.5x55mm cal., 24'' barrel, blued finish, hardwood stock, and handguard. Issue sights have been removed. Now with a dovetailed blade front sight mounted to the barrel band and Lyman aperture target sight mounted to the rear receiver bridge. A brass disc is screwed to the right side butt stock showing bore and throat wear. Rifle has been modified by shortening the barrel and forend; removing the associated military hardware. Top of the receiver ring is marked ''(Crowned Swedish crest)/CARL GUSTAFS STADS/GEVARSFAKTORI/1911''. Matching bolt handle. Other numbers do not match. No visible import marks. Condition overall is very good as modified, retaining approx. 80%-85% blue, with thinning and toning to the trigger guard and nose cap. There is also an area of rust on the buttplate tang. Wood has been sanded and stained, now in very good condition, with a few scattered dents and a crack to the handguard. Action operates smoothly. Floorplate has been modified and the bolt will close on an empty chamber. Bright bore rates excellent with well-defined rifling. Est.: $400-$600. (C&R/PPT)
