Modified Swiss 1869/71 Vetterli Bolt Action Rifle, #39143, .41 Swiss RF cal., 19.4'' barrel, blued finish, hardwood stock with checkered forend, bead front sight, and adjustable leaf rear sight with ''U''-notch, graduated to 1000 meters. Includes shortened steel cleaning rod. Left side of the receiver is marked ''39143/SOC.IND.SUISSE(Swiss Cross)SYST.VETTERLI''. There is a Swiss cross over a Shield symbol stamped on right side of the buttstock. Bolt does not match. Rifle has been modified by shortening the barrel and forend; fitting a bead sight onto the front barrel band. Condition overall is good as modified; metal shows general wear and patina. Wood is good with bruises and handling marks scattered throughout. Initials have been lightly carved into left side of the buttstock. Action operates smoothly. Bore with an area of patina behind the muzzle; rifling is good. Est.: $200-$300. (Antique)
