Modified Antique Turkish Issue GEW 88 Bolt Action Rifle, #8269a, 8x57mm cal., 20.25'' barrel, blued finish, bright receiver and bolt assembly, dovetailed inverted-''V'' front sight, and adjustable folding leaf rear sight with ''V''-notch, graduated to 2000 meters. Includes a brown leather military sling, in good used condition. No cleaning rod. Top of the receiver ring is marked ''S/(Crown)/DANZIG/1889'' and the left side receiver rail with ''G.Mod.88.'' There are crowned inspection stamps on the right side receiver and faintly on right side of the buttstock. There are Turkish ''(crescent moons)'' stamped on the bolt assembly. Numbers do not match. Rifle has been modified by shortening the forend and barrel, bending the bolt handle forward, and rebluing the metal. Condition overall is good. Much of the reblued metal has toned dark or to a plum color. Buttplate shows wear and patina. Receiver and bolt body have been polished bright. Wood is very good with scattered dents and scratches. Action operates smoothly. Bore is bright with good rifling. Est.: $300-$400. (Antique)
