German Karabiner Model 1871 Mauser Single Shot Bolt Action Carbine, #9697B, 11 mm Mauser cal., 20.25'' barrel, blued /bright finish, hardwood stock, inverted-''V'' front sight, and adjustable folding leaf rear sight with ''V''-notches, graduated to 1100 meters. Left side of the receiver is marked ''K.Mod.71'', and the right side with ''1876'' production date, below ''1877'' in service date. Top of the barrel shank is marked ''(Crown)SPANDAU'' and the left side with a ''(Crown)FW''. There are crowned inspection stamps on right side of the receiver and barrel, and a very faint stamp on the underside of the stock wrist. Buttplate is unit stamped ''20 .D./2.83''. Matching visible numbers. Condition overall is good; barrel has a combination of blue finish mixed with patina and scattered light frosting. Bright metal parts show darkening from age. Wood is good with general handling marks, bruises, and darkening to the finish. Action functions well. Bore rates fair to good with darkening in the grooves, and clear rifling. Est.: $500-$700.
