^Lot 523 Modified Antique German GEW 71/84 Mauser Bolt Action Rifle

Modified Antique German GEW 71/84 Mauser Bolt Action Rifle, #71983, 11mm Mauser cal., 19.75'' barrel, blued finish, with straight grip hardwood stock. The original sights have been removed, now fitted with a blade on ramp front sight and a fixed leaf rear sight with ''U''-notched groove. Includes a U.S. M1 cotton sling, in good used condition. Rifle has been modified by shortening the barrel, magazine, stock, and removing the associated military hardware. Left side of the receiver is marked ''I.G. Mod. 71/84.'', and the right side with ''1887'' production date. Top of the barrel shank is marked ''(crown)Amberg'' and the left side with a ''(crown)L''. There are crowned inspection stamps on right side of the receiver and barrel. Matching visible numbers. There are no markings visible on the stock. Condition overall is good as modified, the metal parts have a mostly dark patina, mixed with blue finish. Wood is fair, stain has been applied, and the wrist has been reshaped and has fine cracks on both sides. Action functions well. Bore has some spots of visible patina, rifling is good.
