British No.4 Mk 1* Lee Enfield Bolt Action Rifle with Bayonet, #31C8939, .303 British cal., 25.2'' two-groove barrel, phosphate finish, beech wood stock set with handguard and zinc buttplate, blade front sight with protectors, adjustable folding leaf rear sight with aperture and battle sight, graduated to 1300 yards. Left side of the receiver is marked with Savage ''(block) S''/1942'' and ''No4 Mk 1*/U.S.PROPERTY''. Rifle was in South African service and is marked with ''(Broad Arrow)U'' stamps on top of the receiver ring. Buttstock is stamped ''L'' for long size. Matching number on the bolt head. Forend is not numbered. Bolt is fitted with #1 bolt head. No visible import marks. Bayonet was made by the Singer Company and is marked ''No 4 Mk II N67'' on left side of the socket, with steel scabbard. Bayonet and scabbard are both in good condition, showing light handling marks to the bayonet, latch operates smoothly. Scabbard with scratches and patina. Rifle is in fine overall condition, retaining approx. 92% of its finish, with scratches and handling marks to the magazine and upper barrel band. Wood is very good with general small to medium sized scratches and impressions. Action operates smoothly. Bright bore rates excellent with well-defined rifling. Est.: $400-$700. (C&R/PPT)
