Kynoch Model 1873 Chassepot Single Shot Bolt Action Rifle, #G7426, 11x59Rmm cal., 32.25'' barrel, blued finish, walnut stock, inverted-''V'' front sight, and adjustable folding leaf rear sight with ''V''-notch, graduated to 1000 meters. Includes steel rammer. Rifle was converted in England by Kynoch to fire the 11mm Gras cartridge and is marked ''KYNOCH-GUN-FACTORY-ASTON'' and ''MUSKET-43-77-380'' on the barrel; ''KYNOCH'S-PATENT'' on left side of the receiver. There are French proof stamps on left side of the receiver and barrel. Water plug has been removed from right side of the buttstock. Matching numbers on bolt body and bayonet mount. Buttplate with ''37'' stamped above the screw. Both ''56'' and a smaller ''23'' are stamped on the bayonet lug. Condition overall is very good, retaining approx. 70% thinning and toning reblued finish, with brown patina to the buttplate. Wood with added finish, now in very good condition. There are scratches, handling marks, and some areas of darkening scattered throughout. Action operates smoothly. Bore rates very good with defined rifling. Est.: $600-$900. (Antique)
