British Tower 2-Band Percussion Muzzle Loading Carbine, #NVSN, approx. .70 cal., 23.25'' barrel, partial browned/cleaned finish, hardwood stock, missing the front sight, with folding leaf rear sight with wide ''V''-notch, graduated to 1000 yards. No rammer. Possibly Belgian made. Lockplate is marked ''(Crown)V(Star)R'' and ''TOWER/1872''. There are crowned inspection and view stamps on left side of the barrel. Right side of the buttstock with faint ''WD'' (War Department) stamp, and partially visible ''AMSON BROTHERS'' stamped into the underside of the stock wrist. Condition overall is good. Barrel, lockplate, and hammer have been cleaned, now in good condition with light scratches and spots of patina. Stock is in good condition with handling marks, darkening, and old small cracks behind the lockplate. Action operates smoothly, hammer hold in half and full cock position. Bore with rust and pitting scattered throughout, rifling is visible. Est.: $400-$600. (Antique)
